Nuclear Energy at the University of Chicago
In November of 2004, I had the opportunity to visit Chicago during the NSDL annual meeting. Before a meeting with the staff of the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, I walked over to view Henry Moore's sculpture, Nuclear Energy. The 12-foot bronze sculpture stands on the site of the University's old Stagg Field, where the world's first controlled nuclear reaction took place under the leadership of Enrico Fermi.
