The George McDonald ranch house where the plutonium core was assembled in the master bedroom. The frame outside the rock wall was placed by the Los Alamos people for hanging a hoist to unload heavy items. They also put a ramp up onto the porch and into the door on the right. Neither was needed. This photo shows the house after its 1984 restoration by the National Park Service.
