John von Neumann (1903 - 1957)

John von Neumann was born in Hungary. He received a Ph.D. in mathematics.
In 1943, von Neumann began working on the calculations required for construction of an atomic bomb. He contributed extensively to the construction of the first modern computers.
In 1955 President Eisenhower appointed him to the Atomic Energy Commission. He died from cancer in February 1957.
