Fritz Strassmann (1902 - 1980)
Strassmann was born in 1902 in Germany, and received his Ph.D. in 1929. In 1934 he joined Otto Hahn and Lise Meitner in their investigations of radioactive products. In 1938, Hahn and Strassmann conducted experiments which proved nuclear fission.
In 1966, for recognition of their work, he, along with Hahn and Meitner shared the Enrico Fermi Award. He died on April 22, 1980.
