Pakch'on Atomic Energy Research Center

Among the reported activities at this location are a uranium mine and uranium refinement plant for converting ore to uranium oxide. The ore refinement facility was said to have opened in 1982, and to have operated until the mid-1990s.

Pyongsan is a representative uranium mine, and a uranium refinery is being operated near there. The refinement facility is said to been completed around 1984, and to have begun operation sometime between 1986 and 1990.

Taechon

A 200-Megawatt graphite-moderated, gas-cooled nuclear power plant under construction. Under the terms of the 1994 Agreed Framework, this facility was to be dismantled. However, it is not known if construction was restarted in 2005.

Yongbyon

A 5-Megawatt experimental nuclear power plant, 50-Megawatt nuclear power plant not yet completed. Yongbyon is also the site of the Radiochemical Laboratory of the Institute of Radiochemistry, the Nuclear Fuel Rod Fabrication Plant, and a storage facility for fuel rods.
